My father, Robert M. Warren, was a member of the 692nd Tank Destroyer Battalion C Company. I have his discharge papers and other memorabilia, including a map detailing the route from Belgium through Germany from October 1944 - May 1945. On the back of the map, the "unforgettables" were also referred to as "Chico warriors."

My father, Jess E. Cherry, was in the 811th, Headquarters Co., Staff Platoon. He passed away in 1983. He didn't speak of the war, but talked endlessly about the friends he made while in the service. God Bless all of our veterans and the ones still serving.

My father-in-law, Wilford Green, was in the 817 TD Battalion, Recon, Pioneer Platoon. I have been looking at your web page today for the first time. You have posted a picture of HQ Company. Among the paperwork of Wilford I have a listing of all the individuals in the picture. Would that be of any value to you in identifying individuals? Wilford is still alive and living in our home in Sandy, Utah.

My father, Robert R. Ford (known as Henry) was a Tech-5 Tank Mechanic in the 809th. I have his Honorable Discharge papers, and a picture of the 809th Battalion he served with (Dec, 42 - Oct, 45). Sadly, I'm ashamed to say I don't know a lot more than that about his service. He didn't talk about it.
We nearly always attended the Reunions, and he remained close to his Sgt, Ray Osborne, from Nashville, TN for the duration of their lives. The few stories I remember were told by Ray.
I appreciate the opportunity to remember and honor my father, of whom I am so very proud!
Thank you.

My Grandfather, Lee Royce Miller, served in the 809th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He passed away in 1988--and I was too young at the time to truly appreciate his experience or find out more about it. I am so in awe of him and all of our military. Thank you for this site. It gives me a chance to learn more about his experience and to share that information with the rest of my family.

My dad was Cpt. Marsh Jacoby of Company A, 817th, second platoon.
He died in his fifties.
My most memorable time with him was riding around Wichita, he on his blue Harley and I on my blue BSA Spitfire MKIII.
He never liked to camp out with my Boy Scout Troop. He said he never wanted to be cold again. As I l;earned the history of the Bulge, I can now understand.

Hello, I am called Lionel PARET, I live in the Vosges with Vagney. I congratulate you for your site which very interesting and is well conceived. I am with the document retrieval on the release of my village and the cities neighbourhood (Remiremont, Cleurie, Saint-Heart…). I know that 601st TD Battalion was in support of the 7th regiment infantry in Vagney between on October 4, 1944. I have the JMO of the 7 RIUS and 756 Battalion tank which speaks a little bit about the missions of the TD, but I miss the JMO of the 601 of this period. Can you say to me if you have docs of this period, I saw that you had a photograph of the bridge of Vecoux, it is to 8 km of at home. Thank you to answer me please. Lionel

Not sure if my grandfather was in the TD's or not he received a certificate from North Camp Hood as a Pioneer. His name was Vernon Little,JR but all of his records have his name as Vernard! He was nicknamed Shorty by his brothers and family, not sure if had this name then or not. The photo in the 671st battalion shows 5 gentleman two kneeling and three standing. The one on the left looks like my grandfather but the picture is blurry and its hard to be sure. He passed away in 1985 and I was much to young to ask any questions. I requested his enlistment records from the NARA but they only have his assignments as Headquarters Company 668 Medium Port. He was a T/4 upon his discharge. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I truly enjoy this site. I am slightly disappointed that there is no information on the 661 TDBN Headquarters Company. That is the company my grandfather and a few vets I know, were in. Every year, the 661 TDBN has a reunion. We have 9 living Veterans that attend. I enjoy learning what I can from them, but they don't have many memories of my grandfather and I am interested in his unit and his war days.

My dad was Capt. John Michael Rugh of the 609th TD Bn. He was C.O. of Recon Co. in 1944 then in 1945 the Battalion S-3.
Dad died in 1979 after having a full life and a career in many interesting business endeavors and the legal profession. His last position was Judge of the 8th Judicial District in the State of Kansas, from 1971 to 1979.
I was thrilled to find this website and particularly the written history of the 609th. I can relate to many of the incidents included in the history recalling these as they were past down to me from my father and mother, Rosamond Rugh. I can remember my dad telling me about the 609th "gunning down" the French cow one night!
My family is quite proud of our dad and indeed all the men of the 609th Tank Destroyer Battalion.
