My father, Herbert Alton Mohler, served in the 823rd and would of been 94 years old yesterday. At the time of death, Nov. 10, 1982, he was married to Mary Dixon Mohler, had 3 children, one daughter-Carolyn,twin boys- Dan, Don and 7 grandchildren. Todate his wife is still living as are all of his children, grand children and great grandchildren. The grandchildren have increased to 10 and have added 8 great-grandchildren. All of his family reside in Texas.

Hello, I just recently found this site and found that my father (Walter A. Stump) had served in the 811th, Co. A. He was captured as a POW during the Battle of the Bulge. He passed away in 1972 when I was only 13 and I did not have the chance to hear of his experiences. Any info on the POW camp or other info would certainly be appreciated. Reading this website is incredible!

My dad, Robert E. Cheatham, served in the 630 th Tank Destroyer Bttn. and I would like to send you some information and possibly some pictures. It will be a few weeks before I'll have time to get the information though. I just happened to find you site today would like to honor my Dad who passed away in 2005.

My father Herbert Alton Mohler was a Sargent from Galva , Illinois. His birthday is today, June 21, he was born in 1917.We lost daddy on Nov 10, 1982.

This being Father's Day I think it's appropriate I happened on this site today. My Dad, Raymond Burdge was a member of the 813th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was captured in January, 1945 and held in a German POW camp until liberation. I want to thank you for this site and all the people who contributed. I had seen and have many of the articles but there is also much I had not seen. My Dad died in 1976 and I still miss him every day. Thank you. Linda

Today (Father's Day Eve) finally found my father's unit ID on a unit photo: Company A 648th TD Battalion. He, Howard Preston, would have been a thin, blond kid from California just out of high school. I could coax details of his experience out of him but it was clarly profoundly important. Hello. My name is Lieutenant Han and I'm the Personnel Officer for 1-75 Cavalry Regiment. We trace our lineage to the 705th TD BN. We are trying to build alittle history at our headquarters and would love pictures of the commanders and CSMs, and any other memorabilia/pictures of the 705th. What this website is lacking is a memorial for all those that died in the 773rd that has never made it back home. One such soldier was James Richard Whitehead. I wrote this for the Memorial day: http://www.kens5.com/younews/122576179.html . He was killed in France 17, August 1944 and is still buried in France.

My grandfather, Daniel H. Wilshire, served in the 691st. He passed away almost 20 years ago, and never spoke much to anyone in the family about his experiences. Thanks so much for creating this website so that we have a chance to learn at least a little about his experiences in the war. If by some miraculous stroke of luck anyone knew him or any details about him, please drop me an email - my father and I would love to know.
