My Dad, Edward Johannemann, Jr. was with the 802 TD. His group left out of Hempstead NY. I have some pictures of him and his unit in Europe - including some fun ones. I thank all of that Greatest Generation for all they have done for us. God bless them all.

My great uncle was Robert Stockman in the Recon Platoon of the 774th TDBN. Heard some stories but wasvery happy to find this site and the history section. He passed away several years ago but had fond memories of the reunions he attended at various locations around the country when he was able.

Cathy, for finding and sharing this website! What a wonderful tribute to all those who served in World War II and specifically to those assigned to a Tank Destroyer Battalion! My father, Ivan Madsen, like many other veterans, didn't want to talk much about the war; however, in 1996 as I sat down with him one day to look at some of the pictures he had from the war, I started asking him questions. The result of this experience was a large scrapbook and 10-page history of his memories of his time spent as a member of the 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. What a treasure for our family! I am grateful this opportunity came before he passed away! He served in Company B and Francis Wilts was his commander. He spoke of him often and of his great respect for him. I am grateful to find additional information on this website that I can add to my father's history! THANK YOU!!!

My father, Herbert Alton Mohler, served in the 823rd and would of been 94 years old yesterday. At the time of death, Nov. 10, 1982, he was married to Mary Dixon Mohler, had 3 children, one daughter-Carolyn,twin boys- Dan, Don and 7 grandchildren. Todate his wife is still living as are all of his children, grand children and great grandchildren. The grandchildren have increased to 10 and have added 8 great-grandchildren. All of his family reside in Texas.

Hello, I just recently found this site and found that my father (Walter A. Stump) had served in the 811th, Co. A. He was captured as a POW during the Battle of the Bulge. He passed away in 1972 when I was only 13 and I did not have the chance to hear of his experiences. Any info on the POW camp or other info would certainly be appreciated. Reading this website is incredible!
