Mike Pruitt

  • Looking for the long lost "Oklahoma Wildcat" (formerly known as the Jinx)... an M10 Tank Destroyer fearlessly piloted and manned for 20 months by the Stokes twins, Claude and Clyde from McAlester, Oklahoma. There were reports of it possibly being seen in the late 1990's at the Red River Army Depot in Texarkana, Texas. IF ANYONE HAS ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TANK AND WHAT HAPPENED TO IT PLEASE RESPOND. The 93 year old Stokes twins are friends and members of my church here in McAlester, Oklahoma. There is a great book (can be found on Amazon.com) written about there amazing heroics and contributions to liberating France. The book is titled "The Stokes Twins Ride The Oklahoma Wildcat". They were in the 636th Tank Destroyer Battalion supporting the 36th Division from June 1943 to March 1945. Anyone out there who fought along side these wonderful men please contact me. Thank you.

  • Granddaughter of Cpl Charles W Huckleberry (Bud) 811th TD. Purple Heart & Bronze Star recipient. My Pa pa is my hero, I wish he was still here to hear me say that and see the reenactments we do to honor him and all other WWII veterans. And to teach younger generations the sacrifices he and so many others made so that we may live the way we do today.

  • My Dad's sister's oldest son served with the 811 from Jan 43 to Dec 45. I'm a lot younger and should have asked more questions when he was still around. Looks like they did a Hell of a job. Would have like to have learned more.

George Broaddus

  • My uncle, George P. Garrett served in the 6th Tank Destroyer Group from its inception in Texas to the end of the war until he was returned home. He was my hero and helped me adjust to civilian life, when I returned from Vietnam in the late 60s. God rest his soul. I would love to hear from anyone who knew him.

Sgt Paul P Weaver

  • Sgt Paul Weaver was a gun commander. Took a panzerfaust at Hilden on 16 April 1945, (fired by a civilian). Life-threatening wounds on the neck - survived. He later did 2 years of burial detail as an Honor Guard Commander. I (son - Raymond), have several really nice photos of him with his half-track - much detail.

  • I came to this site looking for pictures and information about my Uncle Robert Grohskopf (2nd Platoon 656th Tank Destroyer Battalion). I was not disappointed! Thank you. PS. Pfc Grohskopf is doing well at 93yo.

  • According to records my uncle Clyde McClellan was killed on 1 Aug 1944. Does anyone have information as to the circumstances of his death? What Company was he with? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
