I wish to thank the administrators of this sight for the preservation of this history and the honor it gives to a generation passing quickly from our sight, if not memory. My father Blondell Eugene Groseclose served in recon units for both the 607th and 811th. Though he passed in 98, this would have been his 100th birthday. I miss him dearly. Thank you and all of you who visit this "virtual" memorial, and especially the surviving men and women lives were changed by the struggle for freedom in that great and terrible war. May God bless us all in this holiday season and throughout the New Year.

I have a framed map/chart (approx. 16"x24") that says "Victory Greetings" with the complete schedule of the "First Tank Destroyer Group". I will be happy to send it to anyone who will appreciate it. It has no sentimental attachment for me, as I purchased it at a yard sale or thrift shop because I love maps.

My Father passed away in April at 93...He served on the Batallion Staff for the 806th and in the Pacific Theatre...It is *** all the letters he and Mom wrote were all saved.Not to mention all the items he save from his years in the army.He was very proud of the 806th!Thanks to all that served in WWII!

893RD Tank Destroyer Battalion My Grand Uncle served in the 893RD when it hit the beach on June 6th. He made it all the way until 13 August and First Lieutenant Clyde Walker found a permanent place in Brittany American Cemetery, St. James, France. I am seeking information on the Purple Heart and Silver Star he was awarded that month. Anyone who can help with the General Order Number or information can contact me at winddrakes@yahoo.com

Thank you for this valuable site. I have been trying to find information on my father who was in Company C 301st Infantry according to his Honorable Discharge. He wore the patch "Seek Strike Destroy" on his uniform but I can't find information on them. Can someone help?

I never thought I would find type of information you have on this website. I found my Father-in-law listed several times in notes for the 640th Tank Destroyer BN. He was in a Reconnaissance Platoon. He was also listed in a notebook in the personnel section. His name was Lt. L.K. Corder. He is listed on 22 Jan 1945 with a Sgt Ellison, 26 Jan 1945 (Lt. Corder directed artillery fire from a Cub observation plane), 2 Feb 1945 (Lt. Corder injured hand and arm during fire fight) I have his Purple Heart he received for this wound. 3 Feb 1945 the Cabanatuan Prison Camp was captured. 4 Feb 1945 (Lt. Corder evacuated) These dates and places correspond with the military records I have for Lewis Kevan Corder.

I recently located my Dad's "Enlisted Record and Report of Separation -- Honorable Discharge" WD AGO Form 53 - 55 In Box 32 Battles and Campaigns, it lists RYUKUS GO 33 WD 45 AS AMENDED. It's obvious that the Ryukus indicates the Okinawa Campaign (Operation Iceberg) but I can't verify Dad's actual participation; the dates are a good sign, though. He was assigned to 774th Med San Co as a Switchboard Oper(ator) 650 He departed for WPTO (Western Pacific Theatre of Operations) on 30 Mar 42, arriving on 8 Apr 42; he departed on 26 Oct 45, arriving stateside on 25 Oct 45 :? (clearly due to crossing the International Date Line, not faster-than-light travel! :p ) I'm wondering if there's someone here who can help me find information on the 774th Medical Sanitation Company...

I am so happy to find the information you have supplied on this website. My grandfather was a member of Company C of the 701st Tank Battalion. I cannot ask him about his experience but would love to piece together some of the history of his army life.

Thank you for your service in WWII and your great efforts to keep your history alive. I wrote a story, "The Daring World War II Los Banos Rescue," because 2 of our missionaries were among the civilians rescued. In the 1960s I lived 2 blocks from Paul Kucik, a member of your unit on the rescue. But I did not know of his involvement until I began to research for the article. I quote him in the story.
