I was just wanting to know if any one knew my uncle,Thurman C. Simmons he recived two purple hearts. my mother his sister passed away 11/15/2012 and i was going through some of her old pictures and found a placard from him in france and it was christmas time he wrote merry x/mas and it had seasons gretings from france on front. please contact me with any info on this.

My grandfather served with the 645th td A company His name is James H. Deyo, he was a corporal and received a purple heart. I have been unsuccessful in finding any details of his heroin actions. I have found many Picture of him with his tank and crewmen. I would love to share them with all of you.

My grandfather was in the 605th Tank Destroyer Battalion Company C. He was a Sergeant. His name is William L. Highlander and I was just looking up some info and came upon this site. It was a very interesting site and will visit again.

My Grandfather was in the 774th TD battalion. His name is Jamie Edmond Thornton. I would love to here from anyone who new him. He served from August 1944 to January 1946.

I would like to honor my father Hubert L. Ownby who served with the 825th tank destroyers. He went home on April 9, 1999, and how I would love to hear those stories all over again. I met a few of his "buddies" when I was little, but I did get to talk to one who lived locally more often than the others. My dad and his buddies went through many days not knowing what was going to happen to them from one second to the next. I did see the true meaning of "friendship" between them was a life-long journey.

Thank you for this wonderful resource! My father, Edgar Ebbert Marvel, was an M-18 commander in the 633rd TD battalion. He passed away in 2008, but my mother is still alive and I have 4 older siblings who will enjoy visiting this site too. I hope we can contribute more to your archives. We don't have any photos from Europe, but have some others, including his OCS group photo, and stories to contribute.

My brother Frank E. Baranski served with the 629th tank Destroyer BN from Jan 1945 thru August 1945. I had been helping him write his WWII experience and was about half way thru it when he died on Nov 7, 2012 at 88. He gave me a lot of the towns he was at while attached to the 99th div. so I was able to finish his story. For anyone out there, can you tell me how many DT were in a BN and how many were in the crew. note that the TD's were changed from the m-10 to them-36 so can someone tell me the difference?? From reading the history of the 629th attached I noticed the name Bullock and I vaguely recall that name from back in the 1946-47 era. I also recall Frank helped liberate a PW camp that the 99th did in Moosburg and that is one of the towns he mentioned back on Sept 23,2012, but as I recall back in 1945 he wrote home that it was Rosenburg????any help out there?? regards, Tom Baranski

I would like to thank you for this excellent website. I am the grandaughter of Commanding Officer Lt. Col. John C. Meador of the 656 Tank Destroyer Battalion. My grandmother Mrs. John C. Meador is still living and is sitting here with me has also enjoyed looking at these pictures that were posted. Thank you again.

Great site - My dad was Sgt.Forrest D. (Brownie) Brown of the 899th (headquarters - I think, at least part of the time)

I have a stapled booklet titled "Tank Destroyer School Department of Tactics Camp Hood Texas with the cat "Seek, Strike, Destroy" emblem in a circle on the front. Bought it today in a thrift store. Subtitle on cover says "Tank Destroyer Umpire Charts Umprie Manual Illustrating FM-105-5," March 1943 TDS-108. Is this a booklet that you might like to have for your collection?
