I just Googled Christopher Blake and came to this site because I have just found two small cookbooks of his, giving recipes that Louis Armstrong loved. "Red Beans and Rice-ly Yours"
Any one interested in them?

Great Information. The 776th Tank Destroyer Battalion was formed from cadre/units of the 188th Field Artillery Regiment, North Dakota Army National Guard. The 188th FA Regiment was reorganized (during WWII mobilization) into the 188th FA Gp, 188th FA Bn, 957 FA Bn, and 776th Tank Destroyer Bn. The 164th Infantry Regiment, North Dakota Army National Guard, was the first US Army unit to offensively engage the enemy when they reinforced the 1st Marines at Guadalcanal on 13 Oct 42. Thank God for the fortitude and courage of the men who saved the world 70 years ago! Editor164thInfantryNews@hotmail.com

Thank you for this informative site on Tank Destroyer Battalions.
My father George Varlas from Wheeling WV served with the 635th Battalion,as he says "his outfit was pulled to go where ever needed", hence they were referred to as a "***" outfit. The site gives me far more knowledge of his service to our country which he speaks little of. He is currently 92 years old. This June my family just visited the Normandy Beaches and the American Cemetary in Normandy above Omaha Beach where my father came in. It is quite moving.

I was very pleased to find this site. My father, Porter Glen Kennedy served in the 809 TD Battalion.
As I read this I was remined of the places I had heard him mention.
Dad passed away on May, 1, 2011 at 89 years of age. He had fond memories of the men he served with.

I am writing a biography to be entitled "Cold Blooded Honour", which will centre around 5 family members, my tanker Dad being one.Your site is such an eye-opener. In 1961 Dad drove us to Normandy and then for the next 3 weeks, followed by road the route his tanks took to Remagen and to his last battle,at Aachen. His tank was on the front page in Stars and Stripes as hhe was one of the 1st Yanks across the bridge.
