It's been a while since I last visited this website. But on occasion I'm reminded of the uncle I never met, Hugh G. Harstin, and so I take a look at your tribute to him. Hugh was my late father's oldest brother. He was killed in a motorcycle accident on 10 February 1944 while in the Fiji Islands.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Looking for information on my Papaw. He was in the 823rd tank destroyer battalion, A company, 3rd platoon alongside Clinton Snyder. He was an ***stant driver of the platoon. Some say he didn't arrive on the beach until after the 18th of June but research has shown He arrived in second wave on D-Day attached to the 29th.

Hi, this site is fascinating! My grandfather, William M. Galvin, was in a tank destroyer unit in WWII. I believe that it was the 814th. He died several years ago, unfortunately. I still have his Ike jacket. It has the TD patch on one sleeve and the 7th Armored Division patch on the other. Unfortunately I can’t find his service record because of a fire at the record facility.

My dad, Kay Halsell II (BGen AUS, Ret.), was a first a unit commander, later the XO of the 826th. As with many vets, he never spoke much of his wartime experiences, and I'm trying to find out more about them, and even to learn a little about those he served with. I'm grateful to have found this site and appreciate all the work that's gone into putting the unit's documents online.

My grandfather, Col. Charles Miller is listed on this site, which I find very cool. There are pictures of him that I have seen many, many times before.
He died before I was born so I never got to know him.
Thank you so much for remembering him.

So great to find a site dedicated to these great servicepeople (like my great-uncle Joseph C. Awkard, Jr.) who meant so much to all of us! Thanks!
