Arnold T. Johnson
Biography: Arnold T. Johnson was born on July 13, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of three children born to Arthur and Laura Johnson. Arnold graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1943 along with his twin brother Owen. The boys also had a sister Shirley.
Service Time: Arnold entered the service and was assigned to Headquarters Company of the 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion, earning campaign credits for Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe. He left the service at the rank of Technician 4th grade.
After returning to the U.S., Arnold went back to school, attending the University of Detroit. He found employment with the Higbie Manufacturing Company as an International Project Coordinator and after a 38 year career, retired in 1992.
On September 17, 1949, Arnold married the former Lois Jones and they had one daughter Gail and a son Gary.
Arnold was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Davison and the Davison VFW-Post 4087. Arnold passed away on May 20, 2012, and was laid to rest at the White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. At the time of his death, he was the youngest surviving member of the 630th TD Bn. He and Lois had been married for 62 years.
