Kelsie R. Workman
Biography: Kelsie Raymond Workman was born November 30, 1913, in Barberton, Summit County, Ohio. He was the son of Raymond C. Workman and Hattie M. Garrett. In 1935 he married Anna Mae Baldasare, from Rochester, New York, daughter of Frank A. Baldasare and Alma M. Cochlan. They had a daughter, Malinda Jane. His draft card, dated October 16, 1940, indicates he was employed by LaPorte Buchman Woolen Mills Inc. in LaPorte, Indiana His enlistment record indicates he completed grammar school and was working as a stock clerk.
Service Time: Kelsie entered the Army on April 15, 1941 at Fort Wayne, Indiana. We don’t have any information on his early military history but he was listed on the 6th Tank Destroyer Group payroll roster of 7-28-43.
After the war, Kelsie returned to LaPorte and his family. The 1950 U.S. Census shows he was working as an assembler for a farm equipment company. In his later years his occupation was listed as Maintenance Engineer at a plastic manufacturer. Kelsie passed away on November 22, 1999, and was buried in the Cavalry Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
