This article was written by Dunbar Dix MacNemar, who is a Public Affairs Specialist for the First U.S. Army Headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, and is also a veteran of the 811th Tank Destroyer Battalion which saw action in Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. His unit received both a Distinguished Unit Citation and the Croix De Guerre. Dunbar passed away on December 19, 2009, at the age of 88.
