Unit History:  Activated on June 1, 1942, at Camp Chaffee, AR, as a Heavy Self-Propelled unit.  Shipped from San Francisco Port of Embarkation on March 15, 1944, and landed in Hawaii on March 21, 1944.  Landed Palau on Feb. 1, 1945.
