1st TD Group
Lt. Col. Allen H. Foreman, Commanding Officer 1st Tank Destroyer Group, presents the Bronze Star to Capt. Willard B. Young, at Leipzig, Germany. July 6, 1945. Photo courtesy of Stephanie Young Merzel.
A now promoted Captain Willard B. Young on right stands with a Captain Enoch Martin, somewhere in Europe. The plate on the Jeep says "1A 1TD" standing for 1st Army and the 1st Tank Destroyer Group. The sign on the tent says MSG CEN. which I assume stands for "Message Central". The Bronze Star that Willard received was for his work with radio personnel and attaining the maximum communication possible. This information along with the sign makes my assumption seem more reasonable. Photo courtesy of Stephanie Young Merzel.
