• I found your site while doing research on my uncle's WW 2 uniform. It has the same patch displayed on your web site. I was wondering if I could find out what the bars on the jacket signify. There is a 5th Army patch on the left sleeve. The bar on the right front of the jacket is yellow/gold with very thin red, white and blue stripes. The bar on the left front has bars of (from left to right) brown, thin green, white , red, wide green, thin blue, white, red, wide green , thin white, thin black, thin white then finishes with brown. Thanks

• MY BROTHER , SGT THOMAS FRETWELL JR WAS IN THE 629 AND WAS KILLED ON SEPT 16,1944 NEAR THE ZIEGFRED LINE. HIS NAME APPEARS ON THE MISSING MARKER AT THE CEMETERY AT MARGRATEN HOLLOND.

• my uncle was in the 654th tank destroyer bat. killed on may 23 1945 his name was wilson foch smith. thats all i really know about him except he was killed in a plane crash in france

• My Father, William A. Springstead, was in this unit. He later became a Baptist Minister. He passed away in 1990. My son, his grand-son, Joel Springstead is a Captain in the US Army and just finished a tour in Iraq.
