My Dad,PFC Albert E. Johnson, was a radioman assigned to the 771tank destroyer unit Company C. He was wounded on or about November 20, 1944 near Apweiler, Germany. He was sent to a hospital in Belgium for a few months and them reassigned to the Army Air Corps, still in radio communications.

My uncle Glenn A Granquist of Wayne, Nebraska served with the 636th Tank Destroyer Battalion. According to his obituary, he drove the lead tank into Rome. Thanks to the information I discovered at this site, I now know that would have been in June 1944. Fortunately Uncle Glenn survived the war and returned home to raise a family and to farm.

My great uncles, Adolph & Albert Haschke served in the 692nd TD Battalion "B" Company. Albert Haschke was on Jack Myers tank crew and, unfortunately didn't make it home. He was a casualty of the Rhineland Campaign in early March of 1945. The pictures and information provided here on tankdestroyer.net has been a great help in learning more about my uncles and the great men they served with.

My father, John F. Kukitz was a Hellcat. He passed many years ago and I don’t have much information about his time in the military. Any help / suggestions as to where I could find some of his history would be greatly appreciated.
