My father Thomas A Caddick was a staff sergeant, Company B, 661st Tank Destroyer Battalion 2/45, M18S and attached to the 69th Infantry Division in Central Europe and Rhineland. He only spoke of meeting the Russians after crossing the Rhine but nothing about what he saw in Leipzig, Germany. My wife and I would like to see that area next year...and interested in any group tours for 2014. Thanks.

A friend of Dana Garber Miller, her Dad, Lt. Julian P. Garber served with the 820. He was a great person and I will always remember being invited over for dinner and meeting Dana's parents. The Greatest Generation will always be in my prayers...

My father, PFC John Borawski was in the 824th Tank Destroyer BN B Company. I found him in the picture Camp Hood TX. He was back row, sixth soldier from the left of the standard(?). He's gone now but showing this to my mother made her happy...

My dad was Capt. John Michael Rugh of the 609th TD Bn. He was C.O. of Recon Co. in 1944 then in 1945 the Battalion S-3. Dad died in 1979 after having a full life and a career in many interesting business endeavors and the legal profession. His last position was Judge of the 8th Judicial District in the State of Kansas, from 1971 to 1979. I was thrilled to find this website and particularly the written history of the 609th. I can relate to many of the incidents included in the history recalling these as they were past down to me from my father and mother, Rosamond Rugh. I can remember my dad telling me about the 609th "gunning down" the French cow one night! My family is quite proud of our dad and indeed all the men of the 609th Tank Destroyer Battalion. My father, James M Abell was in Headquarters Co. 813th Tank Destroyers. He had a lot of stories to tell of his assignments overseas. He received some metals/commondations that he always said was for bravery. Although he was a cook, he told me that anyone can cook but it takes a brave man to serve it. Sadly, he passed away Friday Aug 2nd, 2013. Age 94. We will always remember him. Great website. Thanks

This is an outstandingly fine site - my complements. I was a member of A Company, 821st Tank Destroyer Battalion from 1942 through 1945. The Battalion landed on Omaha Beach in June of 1944 and was continuously in action through to the Elbe River in Germany in May of 1945.
