• My father, Ambrozi ("Amby") Paliwoda served at Fort Hood with the Tank Destroyers in the early 1940's. He worked in the unit's "graphic" section, designing posters and training aids. Perhaps his most notable accomplishment while serving with the Tank Destroyers unit was that he designed the Tank Destroyers' well-known black panther shoulder patch. I believe that our family still has the original drawing he executed while designing the patch. I think it's even in color. If there is anyone who would like to have a photo of the sketch, I can ask my mother (who is still alive and well at age 93) if she knows where it is. I remember having seen it many years ago. • I am the son of Lt Frederick Jones-Recon Company. My dad received a Battlefield Commission late in the war. He was leading the recon group that was ambushed in Barby on April 12. dad passed away in August 2003. He served with quite a brave group of men. :) :) :) :)

• My dad Herbert Payne was a gun commander with the 648th TD Bn. He was proud of his time in service and talked of it often. He passed away on Veterans Day 2008. To all the Veterans of WWII thank you.

• My Uncle, Derwood Crowley,had a poem in with all his things that was written on a red cross stationary. It was titled,"A Tribute To Tank Destroyers". We wonder if he wrote it. Would anyone out there know of such a poem?

• My wife, Lucy, is sister of Michael Defebio who was in 643rd and one of the casualities on April 12, 1945 The family did not have much information about Mike's activities and what they did have did not match up with what I learned. Lucy has Alzheimers now and is the last survivor so it does no good to try and rectify their history. We thank Ben Savelkoul who is one of the Dutch people that adopted graves in Margraten, NL U S Cemetery.
