- My father, Ambrozi ("Amby") Paliwoda served at Fort Hood with the Tank Destroyers in the early 1940's. He worked in the unit's "graphic" section, designing posters and training aids. Perhaps his most notable accomplishment while serving with the Tank Destroyers unit was that he designed the Tank Destroyers' well-known black panther shoulder patch. I believe that our family still has the original drawing he executed while designing the patch. I think it's even in color. If there is anyone who would like to have a photo of the sketch, I can ask my mother (who is still alive and well at age 93) if she knows where it is. I remember having seen it many years ago.
