I am the proud grandaughter of William Porter who served in the 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion. I am so proud of my Poppy, back in 08 after his passing I got a tank destroyer battalion insignia tattooed on my shoulder. May God Bless all our veterans. : )

Great site! Just referred to by a friend. We both just realized our father in laws were part of the 772... Charles (my father in law) and Jim Anderson (no relation). Will be back to look more!

My father was in the 773rd! He served from 1942 to the end of the war. Then he re-enlisted in mid-1946 and spent the next 20 years there. He had tours through Korea and Vietnam (until I was born in 1963). He went to only one of the 773rd's semi-anual reunions in Sept 1990. He had a great time and I can remember his smile to this day. He passed away in Nov 1990. I guess he got to see those guys one last time - just in time. This website has been instrumental in my search for more info. Many thanks for placing all of this info online!

The web sight is outstanding. Wish there were more like this. I enjoied it greatly. Do wish there was little more information on some things listed. Great to see such units honored.
