Looking for any information on my uncle, Jay H. Nesbit, who served during WWII in 644 TD Batallion Company B. Thank you!

A friend sent an email with photos of a several German WWII tracked vehicles including a Panzerkampfwagen. I replied that my father, Lt. Thomas M. Michaels (1917-84) had served in the 773rd TD BN and that the tank destroyer was designed to combat German tanks. I have several old photos of the unit in Europe and sent one to him. In response he asked what the ballistics were of the armament. I found your site looking for the answer. The first thing I saw was Col. Frank G. Spiess' name. The last time I saw Col. Spiess was in New Orleans sometime in the 1970's. My wife and I were guests and Colonel and Mrs. Spiess were most gracious hosts.Old memories of attending 773rd. reunions in my boyhood flooded back. I am a retired army reservist but I spent 7 of my 21 years in a 28th division unit (Pa Army national Guard): 1st battalion 103rd armored regiment which in WW2 was the 628th TD BN. I was also at one time president of the National Guard Armor Reunion Association which was the associated organization for the 628th TD BN, 628th Tank BN, 1/103rd Armor but the NGARA doesn't exist anymore. I wanted to know more about TD as I found out my former unit was attached to the 5th Armored Division during the entire WW2. Though I am actually a Quartermaster Corps soldier I loved being in an armored unit and especially it was a TD unit at one time. Thank You and God Bless. V/R SSG Kraig Morris USAR,Ret.

My uncle, Frank L. Calvaruso, was a TEC-5 with the 667th Tank Destroyer Battalion. I know your pages state that the unit was de-activated and did not serve oversees, he did. On his Enlisted Record And Report Of Seperation Honorable Discharge, his Organization is listed as 667th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was a Supply NCO 821. He served in Europe from May 6, 1945 until March 26, 1946. He was credited as having served in the Battles and Campaigns as Rhineland. He Received the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon W/1 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal World War II, Lapel Button Issued, and was a TSMG Expert and Rifle Expert. I have no idea if he served in another Battalion or Organization, but I know he was proud of being in the Tank Destroyers. My uncle died unmarried and childless in 1979. I love him and consider him to be one of my best friends. I do not want his service to his country to ever be forgotten.

I am the son of Henry Baltz, Jr (page 84 of the 774th TD History). I remember reading the history of the 774th as a child. Thanks for scanning the book onto the internet.

Thanks for publishing this - DE Bruner, Jr was my Great Uncle. I really enjoyed reading about him and his accomplishments. I did not know him personally - the only siblings of my grandfather that I know personally are Charlie, Edna and Gerald. Thanks for doing this site. My gradfather was Charlie W. Worrill. He was in Company "B" 813th. I would love to learn as much as I can about the company.
