My dad Frederic Knilans served in the 671st Tank Destroyer Battalion and I am trying to see if there are any living members that I might be able to contact. My dad has been gone since 1981 and I just recently found which unit he served in.

My uncle Romain L. Hollis was wounded and died Sept.15,1944, even though he is buried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery
Henri-Chapelle, Belgium he has always been remembered by our family, my mother was able to visit her brothers grave before she pasted.

I would like to thank my son Philip for the effort he has put into this. My father loved the military and being a part of WWII and Korea. Knowing where his regiment traveled in Europe,Japan and Korea gives me more of an understanding of the person he must have been to have survived these wars.

It is important that we never forget the courage, strength and sacrifice those have made before us to ensure we can live free as Americans. This website plays an important role in helping achieve remembrance of these great men and women. I didn't know my grandfather, Leonard J. Boteler that well due to my father being a soldier and our family constantly moving around the world. Once I was able to spend more time with him it was cut short due to his passing. This website helps me put not just a face to the man I didn't know, but character, reason, and understanding as well. Let us also not forget the wives and husbands of these soldiers for their sacrifices made here at home.

My father was in the 658th, his name was Sherwin (Sonny) Leibovitz. He was from Chicago, IL…later moving to Detroit and then to Southern California. He passed away in 2006.
